Adopt Me: Rico loves to run

Nov 24 2016, 1:19 am

When Rico arrived at SAINTS Rescue in Mission he was not in a good way.

The German shepherd was suffering from a painful skin issue and infection from a long-term flea infestation that caused him to be quite irritable.

But like many animals that arrive on the farm, which takes in old, unwanted and ill animals, he has thrived in the loving care of staff and volunteers.

His skin has cleared up, he is comfortable and, more importantly, he is ready for his forever home.

This 10-year-old boy is technically a senior, but he is no grandpa. He loves racing around the property, and in no way does he act his age. Check out this video of Rico zooming around the pond.

He also loves squeezing into dog beds that are far too small for him, which is charming as all get out.

Rico would be great for a couple that loves adventuring, or someone single who lives an active lifestyle. He would be most comfortable in an active adult-only home, or one with older children.

“He really is a very good dog who deserves a very good home,” Hine says.

“He doesn’t need rescue any more, he just needs his own very best friend to love and forever cherish him.”

Rico’s first family gave him up because they could not afford his vet care, and they brought him to a vet to be euthanized. Thank goodness they didn’t, because this sweet boy has so much more love to give.

For more information about Rico, including how to apply, email SAINTS adoption coordinator at [email protected] or follow this link.

Rico isn’t the only pet for adoption at SAINTS — there are currently 26 lovely animals looking for a happy home. Check them out here.
