Abbotsford recorded its second shooting in less than 48 hours this morning, the second incident after another shooting claimed an 18-year-old male on Friday.

At approximately 4 am today, Abbotsford Police received a report of shots fired in the area of the 2700 block of Mitchell Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an 18-year-old male on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. He was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The male is known to police, and investigators have reason to believe this incident was targeted.

Few details are available at this time as the investigation is in its early stages. It is not known if this latest incident was related to the aforementioned fatal shooting on Friday.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to reach out to the Abbotsfsord Police at 604-859-5225 or text 222973. Alternatively, they may also call Crime Stoppers’ anonymous hotline at 1-800-222-8477.
