A family in Abbotsford is traumatized following a bizarre incident this morning when a distraught man, without any warning, smashed through a window of their residence while the family was still inside.

Constable Ian MacDonald with the Abbotsford Police Department told Daily Hive that officers were called to the residence in the 2500 block of Langdon Street at approximately 8 am. The family fled their home after the man forced his way in through a window and then hid in a bathroom.

The man incurred non-life threatening injuries from breaking through the glass and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

It appears that he was under the influence of drugs and had mental health issues.

The family was not injured in the ordeal and is being cared for by victim services.
