The body of a woman that was found near Mission recently has now been identified as 22-year-old Abbotsford resident Chelsey Gauthier.

The investigation began at the end of last month when Gauthier was reported missing to Abootsford Police (APD) on July 30.

She was last seen alive on the morning of July 27.

On August 16, APD’s investigation led them to search an area of Mission near Sylvester Road and Dale Road.

During the search, a deceased female body was found, with the cause of death being ruled a homicide. Shortly after, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation.

And yesterday, with the help of DNA analysis, investigators confirmed the body belonged to Gauthier.

“From the evidence collected so far, investigators believe that Miss Gauthier’s death was not random.” said Cpl. Frank Jang of IHIT. “Investigators would like to speak with anyone who knew Miss Gauthier, or saw her around the time of her disappearance.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-4448, or by email at [email protected]. Those who wish to anonymous, can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at solvecrime.ca.
