Sun-starved Vancouverites are likely itching to make the most of our blink-and-you’ll-miss-it patio season. While you are probably familiar with our extensive list of patios open late this summer, what about when you’re looking for something more intimate for a date night?

Whether you want to wow a new prospect on the first date or spend some quality time with your significant other, these top patio date spots will help set the mood. Here are our picks for the nine best Vancouver patios for date night.

Provence Marinaside

A stunning view of False Creek and top-notch French cuisine are par for the course at Yaletown’s Provence Marinaside. And with the Seawall running right past the restaurant, you and your date can people-watch while enjoying your meal and basking in the sunshine. Did we mention the patio is open for weekend brunch too? Now you know what you’re doing on Saturday.

Afghan Horsemen

If you’re looking for a different type of dining experience, a visit to Granville Island’s Afghan Horsemen is in order. Exploring an exotic cuisine with your date adds a bit of adventure to the mix, and the restaurant’s cozy second-floor patio amps things up further. After you’re done with dinner, head inside to watch the belly dancers perform, and be sure to order two of their “Mighty Horsemen” cocktails, served in massive flower pots. This is one meal your date won’t soon forget.

The Beach House

Just across the Lions Gate Bridge lies West Vancouver’s best patio: The Beach House. Situated right on the water by Dundarave Pier, the patio offers sweeping views of the entire city, from Stanley Park all the way to UBC. If there was ever a patio made for watching sunsets, this would be it. But you didn’t drive all this way just for the scenery. Luckily, the food at The Beach House is just as good as the view.

Minami

The backyard patio at Minami is a true hidden gem. Located at the far end of the restaurant, it’s surrounded by a lush garden that gives it a very intimate feel. It’s the perfect spot to sip on a cocktail or two and munch on some inventive sushi (Minami kills it in the sushi department FYI). Bonus: the patio is heated, covered and open late.

For a daytime date, there’s no better place than Truffles Café inside VanDusen Botanical Garden. The café’s sun-drenched patio overlooks the gorgeous grounds of the garden and is open all day. Plus it’s licensed. And if you’re in the mood for a picnic, Truffles has grab-and-go customized picnic baskets so you can take some nibbles and a bottle of wine into the garden and enjoy a meal al fresco.

Reflections

Housed inside the iconic Rosewood Hotel Georgia, Reflections’ outdoor resto-lounge brings a slice of South Beach chic to Vancouver. The inner courtyard has a quiet and relaxed feel, but the fire pit, pools and water features add a dose of glamour to this hot spot. If you’re feeling like dropping a few bills, why not reserve one of the cabanas for you and your S.O., and then pop a bottle or two?

Quite possibly the most romantic patio on our list, Brix will score you major brownie points with your date. Despite its location on a busy Yaletown street, once you step inside Brix’s covered courtyard (which is open year round, btw), it feels like you’re a world away. The food game is on point too, featuring Canadian cuisine along with a list of 60 different wines available by the glass. Good luck choosing just one!

This quaint bistro is hidden in the middle of a residential neighbourhood in the West End, just a block from busy Denman Street. Surrounded by flowers and greenery, the charming patio has “date night” written all over it, but you definitely need to make a reservation if you want to snag a seat.
