Cambie Street’s redevelopment transformation will extend to a site on the southwest corner where the street intersects with King Edward Avenue.
A rezoning application has been submitted to the municipal government to develop 512 West King Edward Avenue, a 11,066-square-foot lot currently occupied by single-family residences. The six-storey, 21-metre-tall development will consist of 50 units of market rental housing, 37 vehicle parking spaces, and 71 bicycle parking spaces.
Designed by Arno Matis Architecture, the exterior of the building carries a highly contemporary facade, with floor plates and building-length balconies that jut out and accentuate the building. As well, the upper levels are stepped back on the north and south facades to minimize the amount of shadowing.
The project is the latest proposed development within the vicinity of the Canada Line’s King Edward Station, located directly across the street from the proposed development. An eight-storey, 59-unit market residential building will be built atop the station entrance building. On the site immediately located on the west, a 67-unit residential project is planned.
Currently, 15 mid-rise projects are planned for the area around the station along King Edward Avenue and further south along Cambie Street.
