A 51 year-old woman has succumbed to her injuries after being struck by a vehicle last night on East 6th Avenue.

Vancouver Police are investigating the fatal collision after being called to the scene at East 6th Avenue and Keith Drive shortly after 11 p.m. on Monday, February 10. The pedestrian was found with serious injuries and immediately taken to hospital, where she later died.

She was allegedly struck by an SUV while crossing the intersection at East 6th Ave. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation. While speed and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident, wet weather and darkness were likely contributors.

This is the third traffic-related fatality for Vancouver this year.

The last incident occurred on January 16 when a 54 year-old Langley man was struck and killed on 5700 block of 240th Street. Heavy rainfall and darkness also appeared to be a factor in that accident.
