5 bachelorette party destinations (that aren't Vegas)

Not every bridal party wants or has the means to host an out-of-town bachelorette party for their bestie. But if you’re looking for a weekend away to celebrate her ‘last fling,’ and Vegas seems overdone, we’ve rounded up five destinations that are great Vegas alternatives for Vancouverites.

1. Portland, Oregon – For the foodie

You can either make it a mini road trip (approximately six hour drive from Vancouver) or opt for a quick flight (just over one hour). With countless top notch restaurants, food trucks and breweries to choose from, Portland is perfect for a laid back bride who appreciates good eats and a quirky city feel. Be sure to sample the wings at Pok Pok, the coffee at Stumptown, the donuts at Blue Star Donuts and the ice cream at Salt & Straw. Yum!

2. Napa Valley, California – For the wine connoisseur

If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with the girls full of good food and of course wine, look no further than Napa. Wineries are a must! Head to Mondavi or Franciscan to begin but make sure you look into appointments if you want to visit some of the boutique wineries. Or better yet, book a wine tour for a stress-free experience.

3. Scottsdale, Arizona – For the party animal

If your girl likes a good party but doesn’t want to do the Vegas thing (because that’s what everyone does), try Scottsdale. It may not be top of mind as a destination to let loose, but Scottsdale has an awesome night life. Stay at the W Scottsdale Hotel, a glamorous hotel, located in the centre of it all and surrounded by lively Scottsdale nightlife. Check out the rooftop pool for high energy pool parties, Fashion Square Mall for amazing shopping, and the numerous restaurants and clubs just steps away.

4. Seattle, Washington – For the city slicker

If you love Vancouver, but just want to get away for something a little different, our neighbour to the south is a great option. Be a tourist close to home and visit the usual suspects: the original Starbucks, Space Needle, Seattle Great Wheel, Pike Place Market and even Bill Gates’ House. But make sure you leave some time for shopping, dining, and of course a night out on the town.

5. Whistler, BC – For the ski bunny

Just a 2 hour drive from Vancouver, Whistler is the perfect destination if you want to get away but don’t want to stray too far from home. Summer in Whistler is amazing, but if you’re looking to do something a bit more unique for a bachelorette party and your bride is a ski bunny, why not take the girls up and hit the slopes together. Round the weekend out with a nice dinner at Rimrock, Araxi, or Barefoot Bistro and a trip to the Scandinave Spa.
