Police impound 3 cars for 'excessive' speed in West Vancouver on Monday

Monday may have been a stat holiday in BC according to the calendar, but it was a busy day on the roads for West Vancouver Police (WVPD).

In a tweet, the WVPD said that a total of three cars were impounded during the evening hours for “excessive” speeding on the Upper Levels Highway.

So just how excessive was it?

Police said that one of the drivers was clocked at a speed of 187 km/h in a 90 km/hr zone.

Add this to the fact that the weather conditions at the time of incident were described as “frigid” by officers.

In addition, two of the drivers were Novice-class (or “N”) drivers, while the other one had faced a “similar” impound about two years ago.

Police noted that they had stepped up their highway enforcement on Family Day to “help get everyone” home safely.

We can only assume that “getting home” meant a taxi ride for these three drivers.
