3 brunch cocktails sure to put a spring in your morning step

DH Vancouver Staff Dec 12, 2014 11:20 am

Brunch can be a bit of an odd beast — more than breakfast but not quite lunch, and a good time to either raise a glass for the first time or shake off the previous night’s cobwebs by sampling a little hair of the dog. Whatever your penchant for the poison, here are three wake-me-up cocktails that are sure to put a spring in your morning step.

1. The Hemingway Daiquiri

(Pictured above)

  • 2 oz Havana Club 3 yo
  • 0.25 oz maraschino liqueur
  • 0.25 oz cane sugar syrup
  • 0.75 oz lime juice
  • 0.5 oz grapefruit juice

Shake all ingredients together and double strain into a pre-chilled coupe glass.  Garnish with slapped mint.

2. The Moscow Mule

  • 2 oz Russian Standard vodka
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 3 oz Graces Ginger Beer

Build over ice in a mule mug and garnish with two lime wedges.

3. The Caesar

  • 1 oz Absolut vodka
  • 3 dashes Tabasco chipotle sauce
  • 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • pinch of grated horseradish
  • 4 oz Walter All-Natural Craft Caesar Mix

Shake ingredients together without ice. Pour over ice in a glass rimmed with crushed chili, black pepper, celery salt, fennel and clove. Garnish with a smoked oyster.

If you have any questions or feedback on the cocktails above, come and say hello at Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar where they’re served on our new weekend brunch menu!
