24-year-old male identified as fatal victim in Delta shooting

Delta Police have identified Arundeep Cheema as the victim of Friday evening’s fatal shooting in North Delta.

According to a statement by police, the 24-year-old Surrey resident was fatally shot while seated in his vehicle in the driveway of the residence at the 11800 block of 75A Avenue. Investigators say he was known to police.

The incident occurred at a residence in the 11800 block of 75A Avenue in North Delta at approximately 8:20 p.m.

No other information has been made available by police, although the shooting appears to be a targeted incident – the public is not at risk. This was the Metro Vancouver region’s first homicide of 2015.

Delta Police Major Crimes and Forensic Investigators are conducting the investigation. Anyone who has information that may help investigators is asked to call the Delta Police Department at 604-946-4411.
