RCMP are looking for witnesses to a shooting incident that occurred in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood on Sunday night.

At about 10 p.m., police officers responded to reports of gun shots within the vicinity of 73rd Avenue and 130-A Street, CTV News reports. Upon arriving at the scene, shell casings and broken glass were found.

Later in the evening, a 17-year-old male teenager drove himself to Surrey Memorial Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. The injuries were non-life threatening; he was transferred to New Westminster’s Royal Columbian Hospital and is now recovering.

The black van the teenager was driving had a smashed window and blood on the driver’s seat. It was towed from Surrey Memorial as evidence for the investigation.

At this time, no arrests have been made and no other information has been made available as the investigation is in its early stages.
