It’s the 10th anniversary of Internet meme Leeroy Jenkins, a viral video that took gaming and geek culture by storm. Originally reported by Polygon.

Created by gamer Ben Schulz in Blizzard’s World of Warcraft and posted to the game’s forums ten years ago today, the video has since crossed over into other mediums, including skits on The Office and as part of a clue on Jeopardy.

Here’s how Know Your Meme describes the Leeroy phenomenon:

Leeroy Jenkins is the name of a World of Warcraft character that is known for screaming out his name before ignorantly charging headlong into battle, killing everyone in his party. Though the video may have been staged, Leeroy Jenkins was embraced by Blizzard, making several appearances in World of Warcraft products.

Recently, Blizzard honoured Jenkins with his own card on their popular online card game, Hearthstone.

Thanks Leeeeeeeeroy. That made us feel really old.
