Abbotsford Police say there has been a major increase in stolen Honda passenger vehicles in the municipality since July 1.

Some 102 stolen vehicles were stolen to date, including 24 vehicles that were made by Honda. Police are concerned as this represents nearly a quarter of all stolen passenger vehicles.

In contrast, there were just two Honda passenger vehicles stolen in the previous 64 day period. In 2013, there were 37 Hondas stolen, but in the year to date there have already been 41 stolen – with the majority during two summer months.

This represents a 32 per cent increase in stolen Hondas in Abbotsford 2014 compared to 2013.

The Abbotsford Police Department offers free anti-theft steering wheel lock devices to Abbotsford residents who own Hondas in the pre-2004 model years.

To obtain your complimentary anti-theft device simply attend our Community Policing Office at 105 – 34194 Marshall Road with your registration documents.
