Burnaby is loaded with fun events in April, from Quidditch to a wine festival and everything in between. To get you started, here are 10 things to do around the city this month.

Mochas & Melodies

  • What: An evening of live music and tasty coffee. Sign-up for open mic starting at 7 pm.
  • Where: Caritas 9 Coffee Roasters – 7655 Edmonds St #104, Burnaby
  • When: April 7 from 7:30 to 9 pm
  • Cost: Free

Quidditch 101 with the Vancouver Vipertooths

  • What: Looking for something cool to do with friends? Looking for a team sport in an inclusive atmosphere? Give quidditch a try. The Vancouver Vipertooths are offering a free introduction that is open to all skill levels.
  • When: April 8 from 11:15 am to 1 pm
  • Where: Meet up at the parking lot near Patterson Station  – 6128 Patterson Avenue, Burnaby
  • Cost: Free

Getting It Done! – Effective Productivity Strategies Seminar

  • What: Join the Burnaby Board of Trade and Scott Friesen of Simpletivity for Getting It Done!, an interactive seminar on effective task management strategies to help you get and stay focused, organized and efficient.
  • When: April 12 from 8:30 to 10 am
  • Where: Best Western Plus Coquitlam Inn & Convention Centre – 319 North Rd, Coquitlam
  • Tickets: Online, $10 (BBOT members) or $25 (non-BBOT members)

Exhibition: Allegory

  • What: A showcase of the work of photographers Julie Prescott and Kenneth Gillespie. Allegory is hosted and organized by the Burnaby Arts Council, and is part of the 2017 Capture Photography Festival.
  • Where: Deer Lake Gallery – 6584 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby
  • When: April 13 to May 6

Grandparent and Family Easter Egg Hunt

  • What: Easter festivities for grandparents and grandchildren. Take part in an egg hunt, crafts, games, treats, and more.
  • Where: Bonsor 55+ Seniors Centre – 6533 Nelson Ave, Burnaby
  • When: April 15 from 10 am to noon
  • Register: Online, $2. For ages 17 months to 10 years with a senior. Children must be accompanied by a grandparent.

Edmonds Film Festival

  • What: From April 18 to April 21, celebrate National Canadian Film Days at Edmonds Community Centre. Bring your own blankets or use the centre’s chairs at the free, all-ages event celebrating Canadian cinema. Popcorn and a beverage are included.
  • Where: Edmonds Community Centre – 7433 Edmonds Street, Burnaby
  • When: April 18 to 20 at 6:30 pm, April 21 at 10 am
  • Cost: Free

16th Annual Rotary Wine Festival

  • What: Burnaby’s premiere wine event. Enjoy an evening of wine tastings, culinary delights and fine music. Funds raised will support Rotary literacy programs, Rotary Fitness circuit, Down Syndrome Research Foundation, Rotary International Polio Plus Program and other Burnaby charities
  • Where: Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre – 6688 Southoaks Crescent, Burnaby
  • When: April 22 at 7 pm

Burnaby Mountain Golf Festival

  • What: Free golf clinics, custom club fitting, demo days, prizes and fun for the whole family.

City of Stars Concert

  • What: SFU Recital Society’s semester-end concertFeaturing talented musicians and performers, with delicious food.

  • Tickets: At the door, minimum $5 donation
