TTC will now be allowed to ticket and tow vehicles that disrupt transit service

The City of Toronto has approved the TTC’s request to allow members of the TTC Transit Enforcement Unit to tag and tow vehicles that disrupt service.

In last week’s City Council meeting, Council agreed to amend The Toronto Municipal Code to allow for the change.

The motion was brought forward following the TTC’s December report, which included several updates to the Inspection and Enforcement Model. At the time, the TTC approved plain clothes special constables to reduce fare evaders on the transit system.

The TTC board had approved transit staff issuing parking violations, and sent their approval to council for further approval and enforcement.
