TTC to conduct fire rescue exercise at Main Street Station this weekend

Feb 10 2017, 12:43 am

This is just a drill.

Repeat. This is just a drill.

On Sunday, February 12, if you happen to be near Main Street Station and see smoke, there is no need to panic. The TTC and Toronto Fire Services (TFS) will be conducting an emergency simulation at the station from 3 am to 7 am.

There will be approximately 40 firefighters and more than ten fire vehicles parked at the station, according to a statement from the TTC.

The exercise will simulate an accident requiring rescue in the tunnel, and will involve theatrical smoke in the station and tunnel. This smoke may bellow out of the station, but it’s all part of the drill.

In case you didn’t know, each weekend, the TTC conducts regular training exercises with TFS. This weekend’s exercise, which will be much larger in size and scope than routine weekend training, is being conducted to test new TFS procedures and equipment.

So no need to panic. It’s just a drill.
