There are some TTC closures on Line 1 this weekend: November 10 to 12

Nov 9 2017, 4:25 am

There are more TTC closures coming up this weekend.

As the TTC announced more closures in 2018, we get to deal with several this weekend.

St Andrew Station

St Andrew Station will be closing this weekend from 10 pm Friday, November 10 until 6 am Monday, November 13 for fare gate construction. This closure is necessary to complete the floor work that cannot be done when the station is open, according to the TTC.

During the closure, subway trains will pass through the station without stopping. Customers will need to use Osgoode or Union stations to access King St., or King Station to access the 504 or 514 Cherry streetcar routes.

The TTC says that the new modern, paddle-style gates are equipped with PRESTO readers and improve customer flow by providing an unobstructed path into and out of stations. The gates are in place at 46 stations and 78 entrances today.

Over the coming weeks, College, Osgoode and Queen’s Park stations will close early or over a weekend for fare gate construction, as follows:

College Station: early closure – at 10 pm on Nov. 14, 15, 16 and 20.
Osgoode Station: weekend closure from Fri., Dec. 1 at 10 pm until 6 am Mon., Dec. 4.
Queen’s Park Station: early closure at 10 pm on Dec. 6, 7, 11 and 12.

During closures, customer service ambassadors will be in place to assist customers with directions and information.

When the fare gate installation is complete next spring, every TTC subway station and entrance will have new gates and accept PRESTO. All TTC buses and streetcars accept PRESTO today.

Line 1 between St Clair and Lawrence

This weekend, on November 11 and 12, TTC crews will also continue work to replace special track and switches just south of Eglinton Station, requiring the portion of Line 1 Yonge University between St Clair and Lawrence stations to close.

During the closure, shuttle buses will operate, stopping only at subway stations along the way.

To provide a faster trip for TTC customers and keep traffic flowing, on-street parking will be restricted on both sides of Yonge St. between Lawrence and St. Clair Aves. from 9 am to 9 pm Saturday and 11 am to 9 pm Sunday.

Regular subway service resumes Monday, Nov. 13 at 6 am.

There is no subway closure planned for next weekend to accommodate those attending the Santa Claus Parade.

The next scheduled subway closures are:
Nov. 25-26 – Line 1: St Clair to Lawrence stations for track work.
Dec. 2-3 – Line 1: Wilson to Sheppard stations for signal work.
Dec. 9-10 – Line 1: St Clair to Lawrence stations for track work.

Also keep in mind, the King Street Pilot also starts on November 12.
