Yoga under the stars? Dinner under the stars? Cocktails under the stars… Oh, the things we could do with a planetarium for a day!

As it turns out the Royal Ontario Museum has two travelling planetariums for rent: a giant dome with a diameter of 27′ and height of 14′ can fit up to 50 people, while a standard dome with a diameter of 21′ and height of 11′ can fit up to 25 people.

Booking fees for the giant dome start at $1200 per day and are available with a Teacher-Assisted Program, meaning the ROM will send an astronomy teacher to sherpa you through the night sky.

Meanwhile, the basic rental for the standard dome start at $1200 per week and includes a presenter’s guide.

Alas, these giant inflatable venues are being billed as an educational tool towards schools, scouts, libraries, and community centres, so you’ll have to find a credible excuse to throw your own planetarium pop-up.
