There was a massive Wolf Moon visible over Toronto last night (PHOTOS)
Toronto was able to kick off the New Year on a bright note, as a massive Wolf Moon lit up the night sky on January 1.
Often referred to as a Supermoon, this special lunar display essentially occurs when the moon is at its closest point to the earth during its orbit.
Because of this, the moon appears 14% bigger and 30% brighter than typical full moons – giving Toronto residents an incredible sight to see.
Don’t worry if you happened to miss last night’s moon, plenty of Toronto residents took to social media to share their best snaps of the Wolf Moon…

Okay so I noticed that the supermoon had a rainbow aura to it! It was just a few minutes ago but now it’s gone. Anyone else in #Toronto see it too? pic.twitter.com/jrxDqFE948

The year started super literally, with the super moon! 🙂
