Some things are worth waiting for.

Especially when that ‘waiting’ really means packing up the car with your besties for a two-hour winter road trip that ends at a spectacular suspension bridge hanging 30 feet above the open water of the Trent River.

Case in point, the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge located just outside of Campbellford, ON. A quick 120-minute jaunt from Toronto:

The bridge is located on Canada’s famous Great Trail and is within easy walking distance from downtown Campbellford. And while the suspension bridge is located within Ferris Provincial Park, which means Ontario Park fees will apply, it’s certainly more than worth it to check out views like this:

Just picture this: more than 10 km of forested and riverside trails will also make for a full afternoon of winter hiking with your friends. Just make sure you stop by and check out the nearby 27 ft. Twoonie statue in downtown Campbellford. Seriously, it exists – ’cause small-town Ontario is freaking amazing.
