“It looks like there is the cloud is breaking across the GTA and we are looking at some brands of high cloud,” Allan Coldwells, meteorologist with Environment Canada, told Daily Hive.

“As long as the clouds aren’t too thick eclipse viewing should be pretty good. There will be some wispy cloud around but the clouds at this point are relatively thin.”

The eclipse, which is being coined as the Great American Eclipse, will be fully visible across our neighbours south of the border, however, in Toronto, the moon will only appear to cover 76 percent of the sun.

While Torontonians won’t be able to witness the total eclipse, it will still be totally epic and a phenomenon you won’t want to miss.

The best time to view the eclipse in Toronto is at 2:30 pm.

But remember to not look directly at the sun and wear the right eye protection.

Happy eclipse watching!
