TTC union president and several other union leaders fired this morning

Feb 4 2017, 12:25 am

The president of local 113 of the Amalgamated Transit Union and 17 other union leaders were let go on the morning of February 3.

Multiple reports confirmed Bob Kinnear and the union staff were dismissed by the Union, which operates out of a US parent union.

In response, the TTC released a statement, stating this will not affect Toronto transit users, but did not give any further details on the ongoing union matter.

The affairs of the TTC’s largest local union (Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 113) and its international parent are unrelated to TTC management or decisions of TTC management. The TTC is working to ensure this matter has no impact on service. The collective agreements between the TTC and its unions remain in place.
The TTC will offer no further comment on this internal union matter.

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113 represents over 10,000 transit workers, according to the Union’s website. The Union has not released a statement at this time.
