The TTC can write you a note if you're late for work due to a delay

We’ve all been there before: You’re heading to work on the TTC and all of a sudden it stops dead in its tracks.

You’re forced to wait in agony as you watch the time slowly pass by and you quickly become later and later for your morning meeting.

Like all things in life, the TTC is far from perfect. Unexpected delays are a regular occurrence.

But now, rather than having to try to convince your boss you were, in fact, stuck on the subway during a delay this morning, the TTC can actually help you out.

The TTC has an unknown little service for riders – it will actually provide late notes for commuters delayed by its subways, streetcars and buses.

Earlier this month, the TTC’s customer service account explained that the transit agency “is more than happy to provide written explanations and apologies to confirm a delay has occurred, and has impacted your journey” if your employer requires one.

All you have to do is request an investigation report by calling the TTC’s customer-service hotline 416-393-3030, 7 am to 10 pm, 7 days/week.

The transit agency will then provide you with a note confirming that some kind of service disruption or delay occurred on the TTC and include the date, time, duration and location of the incident.

While this does seem like a bit of a process, if you have the type of boss who doesn’t follow the news or believe that there’s been a serious delay, it’s nice to know that the TTC has your back.
