With the warmth, comes the storm.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the City of Toronto.
The watch was issued on Thursday morning, stating that “conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.”
The storms are expected to develop ahead of a cold front later this afternoon or evening, and strong wind gusts are expected.
While sunny skies and a high of 28 degrees is expected during the day, the temperatures will be dropping to 11 degrees this evening. This will also lead to cooler temperatures over the next few days, and into the long weekend.
Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes, and Environment Canada would like to remind you that lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. “Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
