Environment Canada says Toronto could get its first snow flurries this Friday

We here at Daily Hive believe in words.

The careful selection of them, the meaning behind them, and most of all the implications they have for all those who read them.

So it should come as no surprise that seeing the word ‘flurries’ on Environment Canada’s Toronto weather page has us less than overjoyed.

Toronto flurries

Environment Canada

Yes, we can read. Yes, we understand that it says a 30% of showers or flurries. But we’d rather warn you now and be wrong that have you get hit in the face with flurries out of nowhere.

So ya, there probably won’t be snow in Toronto this weekend. But there also could be. And the idea that that is possible is enough to remind us – far too early, thank you very much – that we will not be escaping winter this year.
