The final month of 2016 is in full swing in Toronto and with any luck classes will wrap up, holiday vacation hours will kick in and/or, you might be able to take a convincing sick day this week without too much scrutiny.

How will you fill your new found free time? Well here’s a handful of drool-inducing activities from new restaurant openings and pop-ups to parties and markets.

NEWLY OPENED

Kaboom Chicken

Korean fried chicken has arrived in Riverside. The pop-up vendor turned brick-and-mortar eatery is now serving up two-piece combos, wings, ramen burgers and more.

Awai Restaurant

Chef ‎Nathan Isberg (formerly The Atlantic) has new restaurant in Bloor West Village devoted to locally-sourced plant-based cuisine.

Lloyd’s On Queen

This just opened bar in Leslieville deals in craft beers and classic cocktails. Look forward to menu featuring Moscow Mules along with cheese boards and bar snacks.

Pop-Up Pizza Party

Guest chefs Scott Vivian (Beast), Nate Tasty (Home of the Brave), and Dustin Gallagher (People’s Eatery) join the team at Village Pizza for one night only to each create a unique pizza pie and a $5 snack.

Rum Social

Resident rum expert Robin Wyne and special guest ambassadors serve up this tropical four-course feast from chef Jasper Wu along with beverage pairings from the world’s leading rum brands.

Price: $45 per person for four-course dinner, $75 with rum pairings and tastings

12 Beers of Christmas

Join a dozen local breweries for this annual all-you-can-taste, beer-drinking extravaganza. Ugly Christmas sweaters are encouraged, plus expect live music, DJs, and “enough suds to give Santa’s village a hangover.”
