Toronto Public Library's new bookmobile hits the road this spring

The Toronto Public Library is getting a new bookmobile.

Currently the TPL operates two bookmobiles with the purpose of reaching areas that are not close to library branches or where a physical barrier makes getting to a library more challenging.

The bookmobile has 28 permanent stops, and usually stay at each stop for 1 to 2 hours.

And according to the latest City Librarian’s report, the new mobile has arrived and will be on the road soon.

New features on the new bookmobile will include WiFi service, technology to support electronic resources, digital sign boards, along with a wide selection of polar materials for borrowing.

The 30-foot vehicle is wrapped in an eye-catching design, which the TPL says will serve as a great promotional tool as well.

The new mobile library should be on the road around May.
