Toronto's annual Polar Bear Dip is happening this Sunday

Jan 13 2018, 6:06 am

After canceling the Polar Bear Dip due to unsafe ice conditions for the first time in its 13-year history, the Toronto Polar Bear Club is giving the city another shot at doing this year’s dip.

On Sunday, January 14 up to 150 polar bear dippers are expected to take the plunge into a freezing indoor lake at Ricoh Coliseum, which marks the first time that the Toronto Polar Bear Dip will not take place in Lake Ontario.

The dip will also coincide with the 60th anniversary of the Toronto Boat International Show, making this an occasion for all types of water lovers.

Registration and media sign-in will begin at 8:30 am and will be followed by the official dip at 9 am.

The Toronto Polar Bear Club members have raised more than $28,000 this year in support
of Boost CYAC, a charity committed to eliminating abuse and violence in the lives of children, youth and their families.
