This Toronto neighbourhood is getting a Newfoundland themed store

Nov 7 2018, 5:08 am

Toronto’s Queen West neighbourhood is about to get a touch of the east coast, as a Newfoundland themed store will be opening soon.

The Newfoundland Store, which is being opened by Newfoundland-born Craig Pike, who is also the owner of Craig’s Cookies, will be stocked with Newfoundland products from knit wool socks and homegrown products to local favourite snacks and other locally-crafted goods.

Located next door to Craig’s Cookies at 1537 Queen Street West, customers will be able to purchase items like caramel logs, Jam Jams, the dressing spice savoury (which is Newfoundland’s fancy word for stuffing), and naval salt beef.

Additionally, the shelves will be stocked with popular Newfoundland snacks like pineapple crush, and fries n’ gravy and roast chicken-flavoured Lay’s chips.

While an opening date has yet to be announced, photos shared on the store’s Instagram account make it look like Toronto will be able to get a taste of the Rock hopefully sooner than later.
