World's biggest indoor lantern festival happening in Toronto this summer

May 17 2018, 12:20 am

CNE visitors are in for a treat this summer as the biggest indoor lantern festival in the world will be on display for the duration of this year’s 18-day-long fair.

From August 17 to September 3, the CNE will be brought to light in a brand new way as part of the new captivating installation, which will feature “larger-than-life exotic lanterns, stories-high in stature” creating a luminous kaleidoscope of colours.

There will be 17 illuminated, synthetic silk sculpture installations located throughout the Enercare Centre’s Hall D for visitors to enjoy every day of the fair.

According to a release from the CNE, the beautiful lanterns will be created by artisans from China, who will use local materials to craft and install each of the individual works of art.

The designs of the picturesque Chinese lanterns will be based on legends and myths associated with the ancient Silk Road, creating an exploratory experience for all.
