A heat warning remains in effect for Toronto for the third consecutive day this week.

According to Environment Canada, a hot and humid airmass is expected to remain in place today.

Maximum afternoon temperatures are expected to be near 30°C degrees with humidex values near 40°C.

However, the weather agency says a cold front is expected to move through the region this afternoon bringing an end to the heat event.

Environment Canada is reminding the public that the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Remember to drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place and never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
