According to Toronto Police, a dump truck driver who struck a female pedestrian and attempted to run away on foot Thursday morning has been arrested.
The incident took place shortly before 8 am when officers received a call about a woman being hit in the area of Bloor Street West and South Kingsway.

After striking the female pedestrian, police say the driver fled his vehicle on foot and police caught him in a nearby ravine. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The truck driver was then taken into police custody.

At the time, the alleged hit and run closed down the southbound lanes at Kingsway and Bloor in addition to eastbound lanes at Bloor Street West from Old Mill to South Kingsway.
Police say all roads are now opened up from the earlier closures.
