City of Toronto lifts extreme cold weather alert as of noon Friday

Dec 15 2017, 11:02 pm

Toronto is no longer under an extreme cold weather warning, as of noon on Friday.

The City of Toronto’s Medial Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa is terminating the alert based on information from Environment Canada.

While Environment Canada currently shows the temperature at -7°C, the wind chill factor is making it feel like -14°C. So it is definitely still cold.

But the good news is, it gets warmer by next week.

The weekend shows some sunshine with a high of -5°C, and by Tuesday it goes up to  4°C. Snow is back this week, with flurries forecasted from Sunday on and off until Wednesday.

So keep the mitts on, even though that cold snap is over, it’s still winter in Toronto out there.
