Everyone elected to Toronto’s new 25-member City Council last night

After a whirlwind election, John Tory has been re-elected as Mayor of Toronto.

Tory won in a landslide, receiving over double the votes as runner-up Jennifer Keesmaat, with over 63.49% of voter support.

The lead up to the municipal election was easily the most contentious in Toronto’s history, with Premier (and former city councillor) Doug Ford announcing his plans to slash the number of city wards from 47 to 25, a controversial move that only came into effect last month, weeks before the October 22 election.

In the end, last night’s election resulted in a surprising twist with a new council.

Once the votes were counted, Toronto City Council received quite the shakeup, with a number of notable and long-standing councillors losing their seats.

Giorgio Mammoliti, the long-time Toronto City Councillor for Ward 7, was ousted by Anthony Perruzza, who had 37% of the votes, while Mammoliti came in second with 24%.

Additionally, Norm Kelly, who is also known as 6ix Dad, who was ousted by fellow councillor Jim Karygiannis as they battled for the city’s Ward 22 seat. Following wards 39 and 40 were combined to create the new Ward 22 Scarborough–Agincourt for this election, the two – who previously represented different wards – went head to head.

Here’s a look at Toronto’s new city council.
