5-year-old Toronto boy dies after falling off bike and being struck by car

A 5-year-old boy has died after falling off his bike and being struck by a car in Toronto’s west end.

Toronto Police responded to a personal injury collision call on Wednesday evening near 1395 Lake Shore Boulevard West.

Police say that the boy was riding westbound on the bike trail on the south side of Lake Shore Boulevard West. It is unclear how the boy fell off his bike and on to the road.

Upon falling on the road, the young boy was struck by a vehicle driving eastbound on Lake Shore Boulevard West. According to police, the 29-year-old man was driving a 2013 Toyota Camry, and remained at the scene.

This was the city’s 24th fatal collision this year.
