Banff and Lake Louise ranked top destination to visit in Canada

We know you love everything Canada has to offer – who can resist our mountains, our lakes, coast to coast to coast?

And now we have proof, in the form of a new poll by Insights West, that has named Banff the most appealing destination in Canada for Canadians.

The survey, conducted online between May 26 and June 2, asked 1,808 Canadians about the places they would most like to visit across the country.

Topping the list was the Banff and Lake Louise area in Alberta, considered a “very appealing” location by 60% of respondents.

Extrapolate that out with Canada’s 36 million strong population and that’s 21.6 million people who want to go to Banff.

(Okay, we admit the math is a bit wonky. But imagine the possibilities!)

As for the rest of the poll, Vancouver, BC followed in second place with 54% of respondents hoping to visit, and Victoria, BC came in third, “very appealing” to 53% of those polled.

Meanwhile, 47% of respondents said Montreal was very appealing, followed by Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island, which 45% found attractive.

Surprisingly however, Toronto was only very appealing to 35% of respondents, behind Halifax in Nova Scotia, and St. John’s in Newfoundland and Labrador. Go figure?

That may seem low, but spare a thought for Regina, which came dead last.

The capital of Saskatchewan – and home of Marvel anti-hero Deadpool – was only considered very appealing by 12% of respondents.

Nevertheless, Regina may soon get its fair share of tourists; some 31% of those polled have changed their plans for travelling to the US due to the political climate.

The more the merrier this side of the border, eh?
