12 Places to do the Terry Fox Run in Toronto

This year marks the 37th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, and across the province and the GTA, people will be honouring his legacy and raising money for cancer research by doing the Terry Fox Run on Sunday, September 17.

Beaches

What: Torontonians on the east side of the city are invited to run along one of the most scenic Terry Fox run sites. The route runs 5 km and will be bicycle, stroller, rollerblade, and wheelchair accessible.

Where: Woodbine Bathing Station Change House (East of Coxwell and South of Lakeshore Blvd)
When: Sunday, September 17. Registration begins at 8 am, with the run running from 9 am to 12:30 pm.

Canoe Landing (City Place)

What: City Place residents are can kick off their run by participating in a communal outdoor yoga class. The run will be 5 km long and will be bicycle, stroller, rollerblade, and wheelchair accessible.

Where: Canoe Landing Park (Dan Leckie Way and 95 Fort York Blvd)
When: Sunday, September 17. Yoga begins at 10 am, run registration is from 11 am and the run begins at 11:30 am.

Central YMCA

What: For those looking to take part in a longer run, Central YMCA will be hosting 5 km and 10 km running routes that will be bicycle, stroller, rollerblade, and wheelchair accessible.

Where: Central YMCA, 20 Grosvenor Street
When: Sunday, September 17. Registration begins at 9 am and the run goes from 10 am to 1 pm.

High Park

What: Come and show your support at this family-friendly run. There will be water, refreshments and food stations available, as well as live music, a radio station hosting live, and a kids’ corner.

Where: High Park – Bloor Street Entrance
When: Sunday, September 17. Registration begins at 8 am, with the run running from 9 am to 1 pm.

Liberty Village

What: Liberty Village will be hosting a family-friendly Terry Fox run that will feature 3 km, 5 km and 10 km running routes. Participants can also enjoy refreshments, door prizes, and a kids’ corner. Dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a leash.

Where: Liberty Village Park – 100 East Liberty
When: Sunday, September 20. Registration begins at 9 am, and the event runs from 10 am to 1 pm

Mooredale

What: Mooredale will be hosting three different running routes, 2.5 km, 5 km, and a 10 km ravine run. There will also be refreshments and water stations available as well as a live band.

Where: Mooredale House Car Park – 146 Crescent Road
When: Sunday, September 20. Registration begins at 7:30 am, and the event will run from 8 am to 12 pm.

Scarborough

What: Come and enjoy a non-competitive run, where participants can run from 1 to 10 km. There will be refreshments, fruits, snacks, and water stations available. Your four legged friends are welcome, but they must remain on leash.

Where: Cedarbrook Park – 91 Eastpark Boulevard
When: Sunday, September 17. Registration begins at 8:30 am and the event will run from 9 am to 1 pm.

UCC/Forest Hill

What: If you live north of the city, head to Upper Canada College where you can enjoy an afternoon of music, running, and plenty of fun. Participants can enjoy live music, a kids’ fun zone, healthy food festival, and 5 km and 10 km running routes.

Where: Upper Canada College (UCC) in Forest Hill, 200 Lonsdale Road
When: Sunday, September 20. Registration begins at 8 am, followed by opening ceremonies at 8:10 am, and the event will run until 12 pm.

West Hill

What: The West Hill Terry Fox run will follow a 10 km path that will be bicycle, stroller, rollerblade, and wheelchair accessible. Pets are welcome, but they must remain on leash.

Where: Colonel Danforth Park
When: Sunday, September 17. Registration begins at 8 am and the run will go until 12 pm.

Wilket Creek Park

What: If you live near Wilket Creek Park, come and participate in this family-friendly run. There will be 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km routes available that are bicycle, stroller, rollerblade, and wheelchair accessible.

Where: Wilket Creek Park – Steps North of Eglinton Avenue East at Leslie Street
When: Sunday, September 17. Registration begins at 8 am and the event will run until 1 pm.

York University

What: York University will be hosting a dog-friendly Terry Fox run, that will consist of 2.5 km, 5 km, and 10 km running routes.

Where: Lion’s Stadium (formerly Pan Am Stadium)
When: Sunday, September 17. Registration begins at 8:30 am and the run will last until 11:30 am.

Ward’s Island

What: Take the Toronto Island Ferry to Ward’s Island and Terry Fox champions will meet you at the boat. The island will have 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km running routes available that will be bicycle, stroller, rollerblade, and wheelchair accessible.

Where: Ward’s Island Association Clubhouse (WIA)
When: Sunday, September 17. Registration begins at 9 am and the run will last from 10:15 am to 2 pm.
