This month Netflix is streaming an abundance of binge-worthy television. Better work on your late night viewing cardio and tune up your funny bone because May is all about fantastic episodic television and comedy.
Last April there were a few highlights, like the crazy film The Killing of a Sacred Deer and the new sci-fi series Lost in Space. So what do we have to look forward to over the next four weeks?
How about a couple episodes of David Lettermen’s My Next Guest Needs no Introduction where the former late-night host is joined by Tina Fey and Howard Stern? The 100 (Season 5, weekly episodes from May 2)

The 100 returns for another season of post-apocalyptic drama. The end of Season 4 left fans hanging and the wait for Season 5 has been excruciatingly painful, but new episodes are finally available to stream on a weekly basis. In case you are not familiar with the premise, the series began when one hundred young exiles from a dying space station were sent to Earth 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse to test if the planet was habitable.
Dear White People (Volume 2)
Release Date: May 4
The first season was one of the most underrated shows on Netflix and now Volume 2 is ready to drop with the same kind of edgy satire. The premise focuses on students of colour as they navigate the daily slights and slippery politics of life at an Ivy League college that’s not nearly as “post-racial” as it thinks.
Call the Midwife (Season 7)
Release Date: May 15
Period dramas are so hot right now, and one of the best is Call the Midwife. The story is set in impoverished East London in the 1950s and follows a newly qualified midwife and her colleagues at a nursing convent. Who knew so much drama could be created around the pain and agony of watching women give birth.
13 Reasons Why (Season 2)

Boom! Out of nowhere Netflix not only dropped a trailer for the new season of the Golden Globe-nominated hit show, but announced that it’s all going down this month! Now the only question I have is how does season two follow up everything we know about season one? Apparently, Hannah’s death has more repercussions than we imagined.

Stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic, an infected father desperately seeks a new home for his infant child, and a means to protect her from his own changing nature. This looks intense!
The Break with Michelle Wolf (weekly episodes from May 27)

You saw her savagely roast politicians and media at the White House Correspondents Dinner, now watch Michelle Wolf in action poking fun at everyone and everything with her new weekly episodic series.

Release Date: May 28
It’s safe to say this film was not everyone’s cup of tea. Some people loved it, others hated it. Some still don’t understand it. Regardless, if you haven’t seen director Darren Aronofsky’s new film starring Jennifer Lawrence about unexpected guests that disrupt a couple’s tranquil existence, do yourself a favour and dive in. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Season 4)

One of the best shows on Netflix is Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Season Four of her exploits can’t come soon enough. Kimmy gets a job at a tech startup, Titus pretends to have a TV show to impress Mikey, and Jacqueline starts a talent agency. Big laughs are in store.
