Luxury candy brand Sugarfina eyes sweet Canadian expansion

Considered the trendy go-to spot for tiny boxes of pricey gummy bears made with champagne, Sugarfina is a popular luxury candy brand working on a significant Canadian expansion.

Currently operating north of the border in a store-within-store model in Canada–Sugarfina has outposts inside Nordstrom–the retailer is looking to replicate their stand-alone boutique model in Canada, and will likely begin in Toronto and Vancouver.

“Sugarfina plans to open up to 10 stand-alone locations in Canada,” elaborates Think Retail, the Montreal-based retail broker. Sugarfina is now partnering with Think Retail for their retail real estate for the forthcoming Canadian expansion.

Sugarfina knows what they are looking for in Canada, too: “They are considering spaces of 600 to 1,000 sq. ft. with preferred co-tenants such as, Lululemon, Aritzia, Sephora, Apple, Godiva and other marquee brands.”

High end is definitely the name of the game for Sugarfina, which basically began when its cofounders wanted to create a Willy Wonka-like candy landscape for grown up tastes…and wallets. Among their collection are candies made with 24K gold (for some real Bruno Mars-style magic), and a line called “Rosé All Day.”
