A full Strawberry Moon will light up Toronto skies tonight

Jun 27 2018, 1:31 pm

Keep an eye out on the night sky tonight as a full Strawberry Moon will appear over Toronto. (That is, if the thunderstorms have moved on by then.)

The first full moon in June is considered a ‘strawberry moon’ as it signalled to Indigenous Canadian tribes that it is a strawberry season, when strawberries start to ripen.

According to Space.com, the “June full moon is typically known as the Full Strawberry Moon, or the full Rose Moon and the Lotus Moon.”

And based on the forecast by TimeAndDate.com, the moon will rise at 8:36 pm and set at 5:19 am.

As an added bonus, most of North America will also be able to see Saturn tonight.

If the weather cooperates, don’t forget to look up tonight to see if you can see the beauty of the full ‘strawberry moon’.
