Your Starbucks barista is about to look a lot different

Starbucks is making a big change.

We know, it might not seem like that big a deal to many of you, but some 180,000+ people are about to get a little more freedom at their place of employment.

In Canada alone, approximately 20,000 Starbucks employees will have the chance to express themselves a little more.

Officially gone are the days of employees being stuck in solid black or white beneath their famous green aprons. Now, employees can wear “gray, navy, dark denim and brown, including patterns.” Not to mention, “shorts, skirts, dresses and pants, including dark-wash jeans, are all part of the Starbucks wardrobe.”

Most surprisingly however, may be just how far Starbucks is going in their effort to promote individual style in the work place: “partners are invited to make a statement with hair color…To cap the look off, beanies, fedoras and other suitable hats are welcome.”

Letting employees dye their hair, wear a beanie, and dress how they feel certainly does seem like a step in the hipster right direction. It’s hard to tell if it will translate into any return for the company, but one thing’s for sure, your Starbucks barista will probably have an extra smile or two for you over the next few weeks.

No word yet on whether or not they’ll be able to spell your name right.
