Poutine Fest Toronto on now at Yonge-Dundas until Sunday has sparked a “Poutine War” according to Toronto poutine chain and host of the annual World Poutine Eating Championship (WPEC), Smoke’s Poutinerie.

In a news release today, Smoke’s Poutinerie has “taken offence to being left out of a travelling Poutine Fest that has come to Toronto in a desperate [attempt] to take over their turf.”

In retaliation, Smoke’s Poutinerie is calling for a boycott and protesting on site at the event by promoting a $3 poutine deal. Poutine Fest organizers have responded by presenting a Cease and Desist letter.

Poutine Fest Toronto features 10 indie poutineries from across Ontario and Quebec – meanwhile, Smoke’s, the Toronto-born purveyor of the iconic Quebecois dish, boasts 150+ locations across Canada and internationally.
