Italian artist documents trip to Toronto to meet long-distance girlfriend for first time ever

Once in a while, someone steals your heart and you just want to tell the world about it. And sometimes you can – through art.

That’s what Italian artist Simone Ferriero did on his recent trip to Toronto.

Like many these days, Ferriero met his girlfriend online, through live streaming video platform Twitch.

According to the Naples, Italy, native, he didn’t know much about the Canadian girl on the other end of the stream. But after a few art collaborations, they began to have feelings for each other (aww.)

After bonding through video calls, Ferriero flew to Toronto over the Christmas holidays.

“The trip was a little scary because I was alone,” Ferriro told Daily Hive. “But when I arrived in Toronto, she was super kind and it was like we knew each other since forever.”

Ferriro began documenting his trip through art from the moment he got to the Naples airport to start his trip. His visits through the city’s landmarks, along with reactions, were all documented.

“Toronto is a wonderful city, super technological,” he said. “It’s very expensive too though.”

But he loved being here, he said, and as for his Toronto girlfriend, the plan is she will be visiting him in Italy in May.
