The Government of Ontario is giving you another reason to visit your local Shoppers Drug Mart location.

Starting today, transit customers can buy and load PRESTO cards at select Shoppers throughout Toronto.

While there are only 10 locations that will have PRESTO cards available, more locations will be added later this year, according to a government press release.

“Being able to buy and load PRESTO cards at our local Shoppers Drug Mart is going to make a big difference for my constituents who use public transit, and particularly seniors,” said Han Dong, MPP for Trinity-Spadina in the release. “This is great news and will make using PRESTO easier for people in Toronto.”

PRESTO is an electronic, reloadable face card that is used across 11 transit systems in the GTHA. Currently, there are more than 2.7 million PRESTO card users.

“Today’s announcement is a positive step forward for PRESTO in Toronto, and it supports the work we’re doing to roll PRESTO out on the TTC,” said TTC Chair Josh Colle. “Having more locations for people to buy, load and set a discount fare on their PRESTO card is very helpful and will make it easier for those who are ready to transition to PRESTO to do so.”
