Another weekend, another series of TTC and road closures taking place throughout the city.
When planning out your weekend, keep in mind that there’s a subway line closure scheduled in addition to a number of road closures throughout the city for various events.
From June 9 to 10, a portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between Sheppard West and Lawrence West stations will be closed from 11 pm on Saturday to 11 am on Sunday, as TTC crews continue installation of the Automatic Train Control (ATC) signal system.
Yorkdale Station will be closed during this time, but all other stations will remain open for fare sales and transfers.
According to the TTC, shuttle buses will run on Saturday until the end of regular subway service at approximately 1:30 am and restart at 8 am on Sunday until regular subway service resumes at 11 am.
Wheel-Trans service will be available for customers requiring an accessible connection. To request service, customers can speak with TTC staff at any location in the system.
The TTC has had to postpone several scheduled subway closures since April. The TTC’s largest union, ATU Local 113, is no longer agreeing to allow overtime beyond 48 hours.
The TTC is currently hiring more operators and expects to resume regularly scheduled subway closures in July.
The Ride to Conquer Cancer takes place on Saturday and will require lane closures. The lane closures will take place in the area bound by Burnhampthorpe Road in the north, The West Mall in the west, Kipling Avenue in the east and Lake Shore Boulevard in the south.
The closures will take place Saturday, June 9 from 6:30 am to 10:30 am to accommodate the event, which begins at Exhibition Place at 8:30 am.
Shoppers Love You Run for Women takes place on Saturday and Queen’s Park Crescent from College Street to Bloor Street West will be closed on Saturday, June 9, from 7 am to 10:30 am A number of smaller roads in the area will also be closed to accommodate this event.
The Toronto Challenge Run/Walk will cause a number of closures on Sunday, June 10 from 8:30 am to 11 am:
Curb lane closures will also be in effect on Bay Street from Wellesley Street West to Adelaide Street West and on Adelaide Street West from Bay Street to University Avenue.
The Grilled Cheese Challenge takes place on Saturday and will cause Lake Shore Boulevard West from Islington Avenue to Third Street to close in both directions on Saturday, June 9 from 6 am to 9 pm. A number of smaller roads in the area will also be closed to accommodate this event.
Fleet Street from Fort York Boulevard to Garrison Road will be closed Saturday, June 9 from 10 am to 3 pm.
Portugal Day takes place on Sunday and Lansdowne Avenue from Bloor Street West to College Street will be closed in both directions on Sunday, June 10 from 8 am to 1 pm. Dufferin Street is a possible alternative route for motorists.
