Toronto police say that a recent attack on a young girl in a hijab “did not happen.”

According to police, on Friday, January 12, they were investigating an incident involving a man who assaulted a girl with a weapon.

It was just after 9 am when police responded to a hate crime call at Pauline Johnson Public School, in the Birchmount Road and Bay Mills Boulevard area.

At the time, police said that an 11-year-old girl was walking to school when she was approached from behind by a man. The man allegedly pulled off the hood of her jacket and cut her hijab with scissors.

Today, after detailed investigation, police have determined that the events described on Friday “did not happen.”

They have concluded the investigation.
