The smoke had hardly cleared from the city’s 4/20 celebrations, but the cannabis community got together again this weekend to demand better solutions for ending cannabis prohibition.

The annual Global Marijuana March took place on Saturday, May 7. The Toronto event coincided with numerous other protests in major cities across the globe, where people marched for their right to smoke, dab, hit, and eat their pot.

This year, Toronto’s contribution to the event started in Victoria Park, as hundreds of green-clad pot enthusiasts marched through the streets of downtown. Led by Canada’s unofficial Queen of Pot, Jodie Emery, the event ended at 4:20pm, with a lighting of a joint on the steps of City Hall.

Many Toronto police were on hand to escort the rally up the busy downtown streets and make sure everyone played nice.
