While some parts of Canada get a heatwave this weekend, Newfoundlanders are digging out following a massive spring snowstorm.

According to The Weather Network, as of 8:30 am local time Thursday, Gander, Newfoundland, reported 33 cm of snow since Wednesday night with some lingering snow flurries expected through Thursday.

Environment Canada had issued a snowfall warning to parts of Newfoundland on Wednesday, predicting 15 to 30 cm. Looks like some parts got a little more.

And it hasn’t stopped yet.

Another system on Friday could bring periods of snow to southwestern Newfoundland during the predawn hours, although snowfall totals will be much less significant.
