If your Insta game is on point, this could be exciting news for you.

The inaugural New Generation Photography Award was announced on Tuesday, hosted by Scotiabank and the Canadian Photography Institute of the National Gallery of Canada. The national photography contest aims to support the careers of young artists and recognize talented Canadians aged 30 and under.

There will be three cash prizes of $10,000, as well as a group exhibition at the Canadian Photography Institute PhotoLab at the National Gallery of Canada from March 2 to May 27, 2018.

“This award has the power to change lives and careers by offering greater visibility for these young artists,” said Luce Lebart, director of Canadian Photography Institute, in a press release. “It will open up mentorship and networking possibilities and shine a spotlight on their individual work – we couldn’t be more excited to be involved.”

To celebrate the announcement of the New Generation Photography Award, Scotiabank is creating an Instagram gallery at Rideau Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. According to organizers, Canadians will have the opportunity for their art to be seen by thousands in a public exhibit by tagging their photographs with #InfinitePotential, which will be displayed on a massive 20-foot double sided exhibit. The exhibit will rotate through user generated content across 10 digital screens.

Recipients of the New Generation Photography Award will be selected from a longlist of finalists, according to organizers. Nominees are submitted by nominators, chosen from members of the arts community, comprised of photography experts from arts universities and colleges across Canada.

The longlist of nominated artists will be announced in Fall 2017 and the winners will be announced in January 2018.

So get behind that lens, Canada. It’s your time to shine… past your Insta account.
